If you ever think life dealt you a bad hand, join me in today’s episode.

I like to write about issues that have challenged me and I have found a winning place. I have been so blessed by people I have met on this journey called ‘Life’ that I found as I have been sharing from my experiences, many people have actually shared how something I said helped them so I feel motivated to share.  I can also say truthfully it is not through my victories alone that I have made it to where I am today. I am so privileged and blessed to have traveled and also lived in several parts of the world, a quest I am still on that has enriched my life and contributed enormously to the person I am today.

Today I bring up an encounter I had with my Heavenly Father, not physical but spiritual. It was on May 5th 2020 during one of my walks that I dared to have a conversation with God about race.

I said to God that I wasn’t bitter nor upset about Him making me black, but I asked God why is it that the black person seems to be more disadvantaged and have so many struggles than a born white person.

My friend Sandy (born white) and I have talked openly about racial struggles. She has shared with me deep things that have happened to her family that left me feeling so ignorant. Yes, there are many differences and there are common struggles and there are things that happen on both sides of the fences. How we handle situations also borders on our upbringing, the advantages and disadvantages but that is a topic for another day.

I came out of this train of thought realizing what is important is what I think I am. Any negative thoughts or insinuations someone may have of me, is their own. I will not take hold of it or be in agreement with it and I find that is embracing the power of positive thinking, knowing that I can start where I am and with determination forge ahead from where I am, and each one of us can make it. There is enough room up there for all who want to fly to fly and to remember that race or gender can’t stop anyone anymore unless they themselves permit it. You have to push past the negative thoughts first or the thinking that you landed here by mistake or you might be better off if you were another race. Money makes a difference for many but it also makes many miserable, so I believe it boils down to management and belief system we were brought up in.

My question to God did not have an immediate answer.  I did not hear anything; so I ranted on about how I know He is a fair God and there are somethings I might not get answers for on this side of life but I am willing to trust Him and I praised God and I thanked Him. But then when I turned around to go back home, I heard that, “cultures and traditions frame our thoughts and our thoughts frame our lives. We are the sum total of our thoughts”. So, I looked in my spirit for the word I knew that would confirm this and it is, “ as a man/woman thinketh so he/she becomes.”

That led me to pray this prayer:

Father I delete, I uncreate, I destroy and nullify every negative thought I have thought of myself that has brought me to this point, through all time, space and reality and dispensation. I will make an effort to think of new thoughts because I am fearfully and wonderfully made with greatness. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I was born to succeed and I am born again with God’s blood in me, so I am not only created but I am renewed to make it in this life. I am born with advantages and from this moment on I think new thoughts, not only new thoughts but I expect God’s mercy to answer for me; God’s favor to answer for me.  I am surrounded by favors as a shield, and I am grateful that I am in a good place with many advantages that make life easier.

The Power of Knowledge in one generation is so exhilarating because we can teach the next generation to think better; our grandchildren to be greater than us. We are a sum total of what we think. As a man/woman thinks so is he/she.  That is powerful and traditional cultures do frame our thoughts.

Lord help us to think of ourselves the way you think of us.

Thank you Father.

Starting today, think good thoughts towards you! Dare to dream, and dream big, carrying the hope that it is possible to achieve success in this life! Life is not over until it’s over.
