a woman contemplating

Recently I had a moment of reflection that came about when I was interacting with a lady who brought about a trigger that at first hurt, but after some time with God, I found a way to move forward in a more positive light and correct my path for the better.

See, in an effort to get more eyes on my book, I sought some advice from a marketing professional but guys let me tell you, her response was not quite what I expected. Lets just say that it left me feeling upset and a bit out of sorts but at that moment I knew I had to turn to God and one of my children for comfort.

So I reached out to one of my daughters, who is someone I would describe as a soft landing spot for me during hard times and she comforted me, helping me realize as she so wisely told me, that the pain I felt was deep because the book the marketing lady was talking about was my baby and that was so true.

After our call, I turned to the Father and I asked Him for guidance and you know what God asked me, He asked: What do you do when you have a baby? You take care of it, right?

And that’s when He showed me that the motive I was carrying in my heart for the project was not right and that I needed to align myself.

It was right there that I realized that when a trigger comes, one has to realize that they are not mistakes and while they are painful, it’s a moment for us to check inward and see why that trigger is landing and where is it coming from and what is the solution. This is something I have been learning in my life coaching classes that I will share more about later.

Anyway, I continued speaking to God and I told Him I was sorry that my motive was not right all along and I did not carry the project in my heart as was intended and you know what He asked me next? He asked:

What was your motive for the project in the first place, was it for monetary gain or was it to reach people?

And that was when a light bulb went off and I said, “Father, you are so right!”

When I truly thought about it and searched myself I realized that my desire and purpose is truly to reach at least one person who needs to know God, and have a relationship with him as father and that that would be better than any millions I could earn from the book because ultimately, the Father provides for all my needs and desires Himself. Whatever we lay our hands on to do prospers, because God has already promised. The motive I carry in my heart aligns with God’s will,  He does the rest.

Triggers are part of iron sharpens iron and man sharpens man. When something hurts take a moment, take a deep breath, run to God.

It was then that I repented and I told God that what I am carrying in my heart right now is that the angels go and just find one person a day that is in need of knowing you and may they place the book in their hands so they may find the healing and communication with you that they need.

So remember that sometimes a trigger can hurt, but they also help us  search and navigate the contents in our hearts and God’s guidance, you can find the positive that helps you move in the right direction with Him. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Be slow to speak during triggered moments.

The heart of man, only God can reach its depths; even David asked the Lord to search his heart for him and reveal if there was anything.. may we pray this psalm often in our life on this journey. Ahsante! for sharing.
